Sunset Over The Mountains In Chaffee County, Colorado (Photos - February 25, 2009)
I sat in
my car in an open area
(the junction of dirt roads Chaffee County Road 337 and Gregg Drive)
west of Buena Vista, CO.
The clouds were thick and gray throughout much of the sky, and I was not expecting much ...
... Then, seemingly out of nowhere,
splashes of pink reflected on the clouds!
The mountain with three peaks is known as
Mt. Princeton, altitude 14,197 at the summit.
My camera does not quite show just how bright
it was to the naked eye. So pretty!
The final moments of the "color show."
(I used two signs on the edge of the road for a mediocre silhouette effect.)
A self-portrait. Look how pretty that sunset is!
Explanation about the shirt: I wore my old Manitou Fruitcake Toss
shirt from the 2002 Fruitcake Toss in Manitou Springs, CO.
I won one of the competitions and was given this shirt that reads "Winner" on the left arm! :)
