Megan and Steve at Cottonwood Pass in Colorado
(Photos - June 27, 2007)

My friend Megan is vacationing in Chaffee County, Colorado this week and I took her up to Cottonwood Pass for the first time. Being that she lives in Texas, I think she was particularly amused to see this large patch of snow up there. ;) |
 |
Right there at the pass, the sun sets way out to the west over a mountain range in Gunnison County. |
 |
Soon after the sun set, there were a few pink and purple clouds over Jones Mountain and the peaks east of the divide in Chaffee County. |
 |
Ah, but the grand color show was to the west! A large chunk of the horizon turned bright orange. It was amazing! |
 |
I zoomed-in on this spot that displayed some really pretty shades of pink and lavendar. |

Three more photos during the final burst of color.
This was a fantastic sunset, and in fact, I needed to stop my picture taking and just absorb the majesty of the colors with my naked eye.
Here are other sunsets at Cottonwood Pass: (new windows will open)
